The Mid Autumn Festival is a great time for kids to immerse themselves in Chinese culture. For those of us living in Singapore, it is also one of a handful of traditional Chinese festivals still celebrated (fairly) widely. Below is a listing of activities that are conducted in Mandarin, and many are free. Take your time to go through the list, and let them play and say in Mandarin! It promotes positive associations with the language, and the kids get to see the language and culture come alive!

Mid-Autumn@Gardens By the Bay 滨海花园庆中秋
The lantern displays are always dazzling at this annual event, not to mention the Garden Rhapsody, a brilliant choreography of lights and music inspired by legends and songs of the moon (the littlest ones will be spellbound).
In areas like Fun Zone (above), your bigger kids can expect local games like Goli and Kuti Kuti. The traditional Village also showcases Chinese crafts like sugar art, stone engraving and dough figurines.
